Mom and Wyatt at the park

Wyatt, your everyday moments amaze me…

Always, as soon as the front door opens, you hop on your big wheels and beg to go somewhere. It’s early September and we are attempting to take in the last of what summer has to offer. Just a minute away from our front door, full of ripe blackberries, and open to a world of imagination, the neighborhood park beckons.

You ride away, wanting to leave me behind, but stop and wait for me every so often because you know you should. “I bet I’m gonna get there first,” you boast. And after careening down a small hill towards the playground at warp speed, you land and take off on your feet.

You are playing the part of a pirate. You are hunting mean guys. You are looking for mermaids. You skip, hop, and sprint. You jump off the tallest objects you find, and sprawl out on the grass. You beg me to join you, and later indulge me in a short photo session.

You could play endlessly here I bet, and how I wish I could forever remember you like this…on a summer day with no end in sight.

Baboo's Visit

Last week we were all treated to a visit from Liz's Mom, the one and only "Baboo." Liz used to call her mom, "Mamoo." When Wyatt got a hold of that name, he changed it to the toddler-speak version of Baboo. So long as she is not called grandma, Baboo is happy. Highlights from the week included Jubilee's first visit to IKEA and Wyatt's first taste of the IKEA childcare (as well as a week of delicious Mellenmork!), a charming Snohomish craft show, shopping at the Disney store at Alderwood Mall, and best of all CLEAN carpets thanks to Baboo's tireless efforts with a rug doctor. We miss you Baboo!

Thanks for the flowers!

Our fabulous family of Buerers down in CA sent these flowers in honor of Jubilee. Thanks!

bath time!

Last week Wyatt helped give his sister her first tub bath. Not to be outdone, he acted up during his own bath shortly thereafter.

Wyatt is a great big brother!

Forgive me for bragging, but boy have I been impressed with how well my three year-old son is taking to being a sibling. He's protective, gentle, and loving with Jubilee. He seems to wish her no ill will. I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts.

Jubilee Rose's first photo shoot

I took some shots of Jubilee a few days ago, and here are the results. They are a bit grainy, and I will probably repeat them soon with better film now that she is less jaundiced.

Hello Fans!

Hello friends and family (especially grandparents),

This is the blog of Wyatt and Jubilee, children of Caleb and Liz Reed.

Although mommy and daddy have their own blogs, we've decided to start a little one of our own. Visit here to read about our daily adventures, our milestones, and the general mayhem we are inflicting upon our parents.

Today Jubilee did what newborns did best: ate, slept, and pooped. She enjoyed napping on dad during the Seahawks game for several hours. After that, mom made her pose for a photoshoot on the big bed, with a sheet for a backdrop, and rose petals artfully scattered around. What appeared to be Jubilee grining for the camera was actually Jubilee peeing on the bed. Anything for the perfect shot!

Wyatt has taken the transition to big brother in stride. It might be the gifts filtering in our front door, for half the people who bought Jubilee a gift also brought one for Wyatt. It might be the novelty of having a living toy that he can protect in the home. Mom would like to think it is the healthy doses of running in the park...or moments like the ones Wyatt and his Mom had today. They went out for a "date" at Starbucks. They shared chocolate grahamcrackers, a special chocolate milk with whipped cream on top, and a free strawberry frappuccino. They chatted, watched the cars exit the highway, and made giant straws with several smaller ones. A good day to say the least.
